Chair of Directors

Martin is Chair of Social Firms Wales and holds a wide range of governance roles within the voluntary and education sectors in Wales.

He is a Board Member of the Development Trusts Association Wales, Chair of Norwegian Church in Cardiff and a Director of the UK Fundraising Regulator.

Martin has written books on charity governance and social enterprise, bringing a wealth of experience and knowledge to our work.

As Chief Executive at Social Firms Wales for nineteen years, San now semi-retired provides independent business advice and consultancy, utilising her entrepreneurial background and experience in business development.

Working within family businesses from a very early age, she has successfully grown several business enterprises. With more than 30 years in management and business development within the private sector, she supports the growth of commercially viable enterprises that offer paid employment and career advancement in inclusive, empowering and progressive environments.

Kat Watkins

Kat is employed by Disability Wales as Access to Politics Project Officer, responsible for developing and advocating for the inclusive political participation of disabled people in Wales.

Previously, Kat was Disability Wales’ UNCRDP Development Officer, bringing education and knowledge about the convention to schools across Wales. She has volunteered with different Disabled People’s Organisations for many years and joined Disability Wales in 2021.

In her spare time, Kat enjoys crafting, travelling to different countries and campaigning for disabled people’s rights.

Jonathan Gunter

Director

Jonathan joined the board of Social Firms Wales in July 2023.

Jonathan Gunter is founder and Managing Director of Ministry of Life (MOL), Cardiff, delivering youth work through the medium of music for disadvantaged young people. MOL use music and the arts to engage and empower young people, challenge social issues, break down barriers, and nurture artistic talent.

Through the medium of music, young people develop confidence and open up to conversations about avoiding knife crime and other serious organised crime. He works with alumni of his organisation to provide young people with positive role models and mentors to help them avoid a life of crime. He also delivers entry level accreditations (over 350 to date) and links young people to college courses, work experience and further opportunities.
