Spotlight On… Nysa

This month our Member Spotlight shines on Nysa.

Sensory maps, accessibility guides and reset spaces helping make venues welcoming for everyone.

Explore Before You Visit

Interactive maps, accessibility guides and virtual tours helping visitors understand what to expect before arriving.

Making Spaces More Accessible

Nysa is a neurodivergent-led accessibility company helping venues and public spaces become more inclusive.

The organisation creates practical accessibility tools including sensory guides, visual maps and virtual tours to help people feel more confident and in control before visiting new spaces.

Nysa is also developing a platform allowing venues to create and manage their own accessibility content in a simple, structured way.

Sensory Accessibility Example: Ice Rink

Nysa’s accessibility guides help visitors understand sensory environments before they arrive.

Sensory Features Include:

  • Seating: Plenty of seating available around the rink and upper viewing deck.
  • Noise: Moderate during public skating but louder during hockey games and training sessions.
  • Crowds & Movement: Busier during events and peak sessions.
  • Temperature: Very cold environment requiring warm clothing.

Why Nysa Was Created

Founder Max created Nysa after receiving an autism diagnosis and recognising how overwhelming unfamiliar spaces and events could feel.

Nysa exists to help neurodivergent people feel able to enjoy experiences with friends and family while knowing what to expect and where they can go if things feel overwhelming.

How Nysa Works

The process starts with venue visits, walk-throughs and sensory assessments to identify real-world challenges.

Nysa then creates accessibility packages using floor plans, photography, 360° content and feedback sessions with venues.

This allows spaces to be experienced through the perspective of neurodivergent visitors.

Creating Real Impact

Nysa’s work helps neurodivergent and anxious visitors attend venues with greater confidence and less overwhelm.

For venues, it creates more inclusive environments and demonstrates a genuine commitment to accessibility.

The organisation recently delivered a full accessibility package for Deeside Leisure Centre as part of a funded feasibility study with Cadwyn Clwyd.

What’s Next for Nysa?

Nysa has recently finalised its MVP platform and is beginning trials with venues and organisations across Wales and the North West.

The aim is to make accessibility information easier to create, manage and update while continuing to grow their portfolio of sensory accessibility projects.

Nysa is looking to work with venues, councils, festivals and organisations interested in improving sensory accessibility.
